Symptoms of genital herpes

Signs of genital herpes include pain induced by vulvitis and vaginitis. Its inflammation of the vulva and vaginal walls causing itching, redness and swelling. Can then blistering or ulceration. Painful urination are constants. Vaginal discharge is often associated with symptoms of genital herpes.

In 40% cases, the outbreak of recurrent genital herpes and is reflected in very different ways: the same symptoms or vice versa no signs, symptoms of low intensity, absence of rash, etc..

The diagnosis of genital herpes


Vulvar lesions and other symptoms are very suggestive but the diagnosis is confirmed by a bioassay. Cell culture is the gold standard reimbursed by health insurance. It identifies the virus and determine its sensitivity to antiviral treatment. The results are known with a delay of 1 to 4 days.
